About Region 9

Introduction

The following strategic measures have been developed using insights from the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Bylaws, ASC Operating Procedures for Regional Directors, and the ASC Updated Brochure.

These measures align with ASC’s strategic aims to advance construction education, foster industry-academia collaboration, promote excellence in teaching and research, and expand the network of members across institutions and industry partners. In following these strategies and achieving its aims, Region 9 will reach out to various members of other regions and seek support from ASC leadership to ensure collaborative efforts and the sharing of best practices.

Strategic Measures

1. Strengthen Industry-Academia Collaboration

1.1 Establish regional industry advisory boards.
1.2 Host annual industry-academia forums for idea exchange.
1.3 Promote industry-sponsored research and student projects.
1.4 Develop structured internship and apprenticeship programs with industry partners.

2. Promote Membership Growth

2.1 Launch a targeted outreach campaign to non-member institutions.
2.2 Host open webinars showcasing ASC membership benefits.
2.3 Appoint membership ambassadors to recruit new members.

3. Enhance Regional Competitions and Faculty Involvement

3.1 Increase visibility of student competitions via a digital platform.
3.2 Engage industry professionals as judges and sponsors.
3.3 Organize faculty development workshops focused on teaching and curriculum.
3.4 Publicize past competition success stories.

4. Support Digitalization and Educational Resources

4.1 Develop a shared regional Learning Management System (LMS).
4.2 Offer digital skills training for faculty.
4.3 Create a digital resources repository for educational tools.
4.4 Encourage virtual competitions using digital construction tools.

Our History

Region 9 of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) was established in 2024 to address the growing need for a dedicated platform to support construction education and research in Oceania, Asia, and Africa.  Recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities within this vast and diverse region, the ASC Board formally recognized and supported Region 9 in 2019.  Since then, we have been working to build a strong network of schools, industry partners, and individuals committed to advancing the field of construction.
